The application of abdominal massages is one of the therapeutic methods that help us reduce annoying swelling. Do you want to know how to make them?
Sometimes food is not good for the intestine. There are some that you may be intolerant to, such as lactose. When this occurs, it is not digested. If the digestive system fails to eliminate it, it causes gas or diarrhea. With the help of abdominal massages we can alleviate this problem.
The toxins adhere to the blood, causing tiredness, constipation, pain in the back and swelling in the abdomen. Luckily, there are massages that can help us combat and reduce bloating.
Why do an abdominal massage?
It is not something aesthetic. Abdominal massages help the intestine muscles and intestinal flora to do their job. This relieves pain and swelling in the abdomen.
This was evidenced in an investigation that was published in 2016 in the journal Gastroenterology Nursing, which revealed, among other things, that abdominal massages can help reduce constipation.
Although it was a controlled trial on patients with postoperative constipation, its conclusions corroborate the benefits of this type of massage at the digestive level.
On the other hand, they contribute to improving circulation and, consequently, accelerate metabolism. In this way the matter that remains stagnant moves easily. You do not need to go to a specialist, you can do it from home and we explain how.
Cautions
The following abdominal exercises or massages are not recommended if you have just eaten, have a full bladder or suffer from some conditions, such as:
- Hypertension problems
- Pregnancy.
- A recent surgery.
- How are abdominal massages done?
- Heating
- The first thing you have to do is lie down on a firm area, preferably on the floor, with a mat.
- Inhale and exhale slowly.
- Rub your hands in order to produce heat, place them on the abdomen one above the navel and the other below, which are at the same height.
- Circle to the right side for 3 minutes.
Bottom
- Start with the area near the appendix, on the right side, above the hip. With the tips of both hands, push down slowly, without exerting much pressure.
- Then make circular movements upwards, since this is the direction in which the stool moves.
- Stop for the right side first for 30 seconds and repeat with the left side.
Pressure around
Place one hand over the other under the navel. With the help of your fingertips, press lightly for 3 seconds in a circular motion around the entire abdomen, towards the right side.
Repeat the movement for 2 minutes.
In the pit of the stomach
Put your right hand in the pit of your stomach, just below your chest. Inhale and exhale.
Next, slide gently, following a vertical line, and press until you reach the end of the stomach.
Repeat the same with the left hand until 3 minutes have passed.
Turn the legs
To conclude, hold your breath, slowly turn your legs to the right side, without moving your torso.
Now pinch slightly from the bottom up all over the side.
Repeat the movement with your legs to the left side. Do 10 reps on each side.
Benefits of abdominal massages
These exercises help reduce abdominal bloating, improving digestion, as they move waste that is blocked in the intestine. Further:
Control stress: in many cases the daily activities to which the body is subjected lead to anxiety and stress. This can cause a strange sensation in the pit of the stomach. Abdominal massages can be a great ally to relax muscles.
They accelerate metabolism: circular movements to the right, as the digestive system works, will help to easily remove stagnant matter.
They improve blood circulation: when abdominal massages are performed, the amount of oxygen in the blood rises, allowing the organs to better perform their function.
Strengthens muscles: they do so thanks to the fact that internal heat is generated. They relieve slight pain, even in the uterus, because they release all the excess that adhere to the tissues.
It is important to know that these massages are only a help, not the solution. To get a good result, you must take care of your diet and be physically active. However, abdominal massages not only help you physically, but also emotionally, so it would not be wrong to make them part of the routine.
